Testing & Certifications

We verify performance through structured in-house testing and recognised standards, ensuring materials behave as expected in real environments.

Where performance is proven

Material performance is not assumed at Ambla – it is tested, measured and validated.

Every faux leather fabric undergoes a defined programme of in-house testing, designed to assess durability, surface integrity and suitability for end-use environments. This process ensures that aesthetic and technical decisions made during development are confirmed through measurable performance.

Testing is not a final checkpoint. It is an integrated part of how materials are developed, refined and approved.

In-house testing capabilities

Our Lancashire facility houses dedicated testing capability, allowing materials to be evaluated under controlled and repeatable conditions.

Typical areas of assessment include:

- Abrasion resistance and wear performance
- Surface durability and finish stability
- Cleanability and resistance to common contaminants
- Flex and mechanical stress behaviour

By testing internally, we maintain immediate feedback loops between technical design and production teams – supporting faster refinement and more reliable outcomes.

Fire performance and compliance

For contract environments, fire performance is a critical requirement.

Ambla materials are developed and tested to meet relevant sector standards where specified, including transport, healthcare and public seating applications. Requirements vary by sector and geography, and materials are assessed accordingly.

Where certification is required, testing is conducted through recognised third-party bodies to ensure compliance is independently verified.

Consistency and repeatability

Testing sits alongside design and manufacturing, not separate from it.

Insights gained through testing inform formulation adjustments, surface development and production controls. This integration reduces risk and ensures that materials developed at the concept stage translate reliably into scaled manufacturing.

Yes. Technical datasheets are available through our corporate site, or you can request them directly from our sales team.

Yes. Ambla materials are tested for demanding interior applications. Our ranges are Crib 5 rated, with the exception of Lite, which is rated to ‘Cigarette & Match’. Our materials are also tested to 1,000,000 Martindale rubs. Please contact our team to request technical datasheets for full specification details.

Yes. Ambla incorporates antimicrobial additive technology within the material structure, rather than applying it only as a surface treatment. This helps protect against the growth of bacteria, mould, and mildew and is designed to remain effective even after regular cleaning. Ambla has been tested to ISO 846 and is well suited to environments where hygiene and cleanliness are important. For full technical details, please request the relevant datasheet from our sales team.
